Mississippi has been in the news quite a bit over the last year because its Gulf Coast region was hard hit by Hurricane Katrina. Thankfully, the state is recovering nicely and ready to expand its economy, making this a great time to earn an MBA from a Mississippi university. Mississippi's business is mainly agricultural and petroleum but its revenue from industrial products such as chemicals and plastics has been growing steadily.
Bioscience is a hot sector right now, and Mississippi is investing heavily in technologies that can reduce our dependence on oil. In addition a focus on new technology, The "Magnolia State" is working hard to rebuild its tourism business. By 2010, the state expects to have 30,000 available hotel rooms, almost double the number it had pre-Katrina. The construction, hospitality and gaming industries will soon need MBA graduates to manage the growing Mississippi economy.
